The MakerLab has one Ultimaker 3 and one Ultimaker S3. Both are capable of dual extrusion, meaning they can print with two colors of regular filament or a single color and water-soluble supports. Both printers have a medium-sized build area (see below for exact measurements). Due to a smaller nozzle size, objects printed on these printers tend to have higher level of detail than those printed on a LulzBot Taz 6.

The MakerLab has two X1 Carbon printers from Bambu Lab. These printers provide a good level of detail with relatively fast printing, however their primary benefit is the ability to print in up to four colors/materials with the use of Bambu's Automatic Material System. The total build area for these printers is 10.1" by 10.1" by 10.1".

The MakerLab has one LulzBot Taz 6. This printer works best for prints with low to moderate surface detail due to a large nozzle size that limits the amount of detail they can create. Their main strengths are their large build area (11" x 11" x 9.8") and their fast print speed. This printer is single-extrusion only, meaning that models must be printed in a single color and water-soluble supports are not available.

This printer is based on an entirely different 3D printing technology than our other printers. While most of our printers use a technology known as FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling), the Form 2 uses stereolithography (SLA). This printer is best for smaller, more detailed prints. The build area for this printer is 5.7” by 5.7” by 7.6”, which is the smallest of all our printers. The resin material used for SLA printing is more expensive than standard 3D filament, so we recommend using the Form 3+ only if your project requires it.

The Stratasys Dimension 1200es is an industrial-grade 3D printer that prints at the highest quality of all of our FDM/FFF printers. It uses ABS material and an enclosed, temperature-controlled build area to provide a high level of accuracy and strength in the resulting prints. Despite its large size, the printer has a similar build volume to our other printers at roughly 10" x 10" x 12".

Because of the industrial nature of this machine, the material is very expensive and may not be the right choice for many print jobs. MakerLab staff would be happy to discuss the pros and cons of using this printer if you are unsure if you need it.

The Sense is a handheld 3D Scanner that is best for scanning large objects. You scan by moving the device up and down, while rotating 360 degrees around the object you wish to scan. This scanner is especially good for scanning a person's head!

The David SLS-3 Scanner is a high-quality scanner that is perfect for scanning small to medium sized objects, or objects with fine details. The scanner uses the structured light scanning method, which creates 3D models of objects by projecting different patterns of light onto them. Multiple scans are taken to get a full 360-degree image of the object, and the scans are then combined using software into a coherent model.

The MakerLab offers several VR headsets that can be checked out to take home with you! We currently have a Meta Quest, and two Oculus Gos. An appointment is required to use or check out our Virtual Reality equipment, so be sure to let us know your coming by making an appointment.

Please note that due to low usage, this equipment has not been updated in several years. It will not be representative of the most state-of-the-art technology available in VR headsets.

The Insta360 One X 360-degree camera allows you to take video in all directions at once. The resulting video footage can be cropped into a standard video if desired, or used with a virtual reality headset to provide an immersive viewing experience. The camera can be paired to your phone for most functions, allowing remote control and video editing features beyond what's possible on the camera itself.

This camera can be checked out for one week, and it comes with a stand, SD card, and carrying case.

The  is a 3D printer that you can hold in your hand, and draw with just like a real pen — but in 3D! You can use it to draw 3D objects free-hand, or use it to trace pre-drawn designs. You can also use it to fill in gaps and errors in the prints you create on our larger 3D printers. Many colors of filament are available in the MakerLab, and even more are available by request.

Filament strands are 25¢ each.

Patrons can now make their own custom buttons at the MakerLab! Our button makers can create buttons that are either 1.25 inches or  2.25 inches in diameter. You can print your own designs on regular paper, either at home or at the library, and then create a button out of them.

This device laminates standard 8.5" by 11" or 11" by 17" pieces of paper, one at a time. You insert the piece of paper into a laminating sleeve, and feed it through the laminator. Laminating sleeves can be purchased from MakerLab staff. Please note if you have many pages to laminate, you will need to operate the laminator yourself; our staff cannot do it for you.
